Andrew Arocho

Born in the Bronx, New York in 1994 and currently living and working in Miami, an artist, designer, and an innate creative, Andrew is renowned for his raw abstract paintings. His style of visual arts encompasses a fulfilling yet culturally rich aesthetic, taking viewers on a profound mental voyage across the vast seas of the Earth with impassioned fervor. Drawing inspiration from the ocean and his travels, Andrew's canvases are adorned with expressive and concise symbols, which dominate his latest body of work in the form of epic gestural abstractions.

Within these canvases, a thicket of brushstrokes and marks conveys a frenetic energy, emanating from the dramatic and inspired forms he creates. Andrew firmly establishes his position within the realm of abstraction, unconcerned with formal purity or the confines of precise lines. Instead, he ventures to complete the figurative vocabulary of specific landscapes, allowing the viewer to immerse themselves fully within the essence of his art.

Andrew's diverse background in visual studies since a young age has contributed to his profound artistic sensibility. The time he spent as a graphic designer in college further enriched his understanding of media, bolstering his overall comprehension and expertise as a natural and genuine artist in the contemporary art world.

  • Across the Sea

His latest art collection, titled "Across the Sea," is a presentation designed to evoke a sense of discovery and nostalgia. Inspired by the captivating tales of old sailing voyages, the collection aims to tell a story akin to the undulating waves of the open ocean.

Within this collection, the artist incorporates new heavy abstractions, seeking to captivate viewers and transport them on a visual journey. Additionally, certain pieces draw inspiration from destinations on the artist's recent bucket list vacations. To establish a deeper connection with the audience, the artist employs QR barcodes that link to specific locations on Google Maps, providing viewers with a glimpse into the places that inspired each artwork. It is the artist's hope that this connection will serve as a catalyst for the viewer's own future voyage tales.

To create the visual landscapes present in this collection, the artist explores new materials such as wood and cement. These materials hold significance as they harken back to the early days of shipbuilding, where wood was a primary element in constructing boats. Symbolizing strength and stability, both wood and cement act as architectural components that naturally bridge the gap between art and space, creating a harmonious connection within the collection.
